Editorial Policy: Human-Written Prose, Labeled AI Content
One consideration that I think is particularly important to this blog is the question of human-generated versus AI-generated content. (Look for a discussion on the value of human-generated content later in the blog.) A huge fraction of new content on the internet is AI-generated because it is easy, and the quality is quite good. However, given the particular topic of this blog, I think it is important that it be human-generated. Therefore, unless otherwise indicated, all the text on this blog will be human generated. I may still use relatively rudimentary tools like spell check and grammar check, but the words will be those of a human author.
That is not to say there will be no AI-generated content on this blog. There may be particular articles where it makes sense to work with an AI tool to summarize relevant, factual details. I may also use AI to generate graphics, though I will make sure AI-generated graphics are purely for aesthetics and clearly labeled. And we will certainly have some fun experimenting and investigating various AI models and capabilities. I will do my very best to clearly label AI-generated content, and I will ensure that the opinions and thoughts presented are those of human authors.
Look for a warning like the one below to clearly indicate articles that contain AI-generated content. That does not mean that the entire article is AI-generated, and per this policy, core thoughts presented will be human created. The specific content within the article will also be separately labeled.
Contains AI-Generated Content
This article contains text written by Claude. Per our editorial policy, the ideas are human, but we believe it is important to clearly mark content that AI has even partially generated.
The goal of Artificial is to ask, as humans, how we can safely, effectively, and ethically interact with AI as it becomes a bigger and bigger part of our lives. Therefore, while we acknowledge that AI is an undeniably useful tool, we will use it as little as possible to maintain the human touch on these thoughts.
